As most of you who left comments on this entry said, this video speaks for itself. Some commenters have mentioned being shown only selected snippets of the video in certain "recruitment" activities, but I think the video in FULL best shows the true measure of the proceedings and will enable you all to discern a little better.
A little explanation (technical):
I split up the video into 4 parts (an idea that hit me in an enlightened moment), mainly to help those whose internet connections aren't working at fully blessed speeds. I thought it would make it easier to view each part if they're in smaller chunks. The smaller parts helped me upload each video, as attempting to upload the full 50mb file and having it get cut off because of an internet connection hiccup was getting frustrating and making me think of very unChristian thoughts about my internet provider. Good thing prayer works! :-)
For those of you who emailed asking where they can download this video in full, here is a direct link to the 50mb file (you can also watch the video in its entirety there):
http://www.zshare.net/video/35341987773c98/
This video file is actually a compressed (smaller) version of the actual VCD. I've had some email inquiries from those who would like to show the full resolution video in their households, and asked about where to get the actual VCD itself, so that they can play it on a dvd player.
If you would like a copy, please email me and I will try my best to have a copy sent out to you.
I am also compiling the rest of the audio files presented in this blog in this entry, including the Recollection Night audio and others. You can find the links at the bottom after the videos.

On the Video shown (by the way, this is great!) I saw the brother in black with the whit ehair asking "gusto ba natin mag watak watak na tayo?"
Yan ang tunay na tanong!
I think the group of Frank and the rest of his FFL team would say yes!
I think the rest of us remaining in CFC would say no!
So nasaan yung brother na yun, kay FFL ba siya o CFC?
Sorry I have to ask: May I know his name please?
Thank you.

Bishops to CFC: Don’t drop mission for donors
09/07/2007 | 07:13 AM
Don’t sacrifice your principles for donors or partners.
This was the reminder issued by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Thursday night to both factions the Couples for Christ (CFC), a week after it split up last week.
“To evangelize is to follow the command of Our Lord Jesus: Make disciples of all nations ... CFC should not downplay or downgrade this purpose of CFC for the sake of getting more donors or partners," CBCP Episcopal Commission on the Laity and Antipolo Bishop Gabriel Reyes said n a statement on the CBCP website (www.cbcpnews.com) Thursday night.
Reyes cited the complaint of Bro. Frank Padilla that “Couples for Christ, because of Gawad Kalinga, is veering away from the vision/mission of CFC and from Catholic teachings."
Padilla also claimed that because of Gawad Kalinga, not enough manpower and resources are given to the other ministries like evangelization and catechesis.
On the other hand, new CFC leader Jose Tale acknowledged “Gawad Kalinga is a child of CFC, is a ministry of CFC" and “that Gawad Kalinga cannot be separated from CFC."
The original CFC with Gawad Kalinga under Tale “continues as a national and international private association of the faithful," while the group of Padilla “will form the Couples for Christ for Family and Life" and “should start as a diocesan association, “then later can apply for recognition as a national association if it has branches in other dioceses and even later as an international association."
But Reyes noted another complaint by Padilla about Gawad Kalinga’s acceptance of donations even from corporations manufacturing contraceptives.
“If Gawad Kalinga wants to operate more freely and more broadly than the vision/mission and nature of CFC will allow, then let it be a civic organization or an organization with a vision/mission and nature different from that of CFC," the bishop said.
Reyes said the Pontifical Council for the Family “is against receiving funds from corporations that produce artificial contraceptives."
“So there is an additional reason that urges Bro. Frank Padilla to object against receiving donations from drug companies that produce contraceptives," Reyes said.
Dialogues have been made to address these complaints but eventually led to a stalemate.
But Reyes admitted the CBCP “has no authority over the Couples for Christ in the national level," because “it can only make recommendations to the Couples for Christ."
He said only the Vatican, “through the Pontifical Council of the Laity, has the authority over it in the national and international level," although every diocesan bishop has authority over it in his diocese as each diocesan bishop “has power to deny permission to CFC to function in his diocese, even if the association is international."
The prelate said the CBCP through the Commission for the Laity “has the duty to inform the Pontifical Council of the Laity about the CFC regarding matters that it deems to be serious."
“Since Bro. Jose Tale and the CFC Council committed to stop the practice of Gawad Kalinga from accepting funds from companies that produce contraceptives, the CBCP Commission for the Laity will not make any report about this to the Pontifical Council for the Laity."
“In the light of this, the original CFC, with Gawad Kalinga as one of its ministries, retains its recognition as an international private association of the faithful, which was given by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 2005," Bishop Reyes said.
It will also remain its recognition as a national private association of the faithful, which was given by the CBCP in 1996, he added.
Reyes said discussions were made whether the two contending groups can still unite.
“After an exchange of views, the two groups decided that ‘the most acceptable option at the moment is to separate ways due to some clear differences in mission, charism, and other points of deep disagreement," he said. - GMANews.TV
To all those asking about Edwin Andrews, maybe CD can post a clip of the (emergency) meeting of Bishop Gabby with the Elders' Assembly kung saan binitawan ni Edwin Andrews yung famous "i will resign from CFC" line nya.

so bro.edwin, nasa FFL ka?
PEACE be to you. God bless...
One must point out that - as Frank Padilla has highlighted previously - there is no conflict regarding GK being evangelistic in nature. Furthermore, the Church itself states the same:
Dialogue and Mission (1984) formally identified five components of evangelization:
(1) presence and witness;
(2) human development and liberation;
(3) liturgical life, prayer, and contemplation;
(4) interreligious dialogue; and
(5) proclamation and catechisis."
Not only does GK visibly practice number two, the others are also heavily practiced through the presence and witness and direct evangelization of the caretaker teams, volunteers, and priests involved in the work.
With all of these public comments and mocking of each other in CFC, we even call ourselves brothers and sisters - do you think we can evangelize people after they have seen all of this in a blog? What people care about is not that we think that we are right, but that our lives have changed, people are drawn into a deeper more loving relationship with Christ.
Brothers and Sisters if you are really an authentic Couples for Christ you would stop all of these and start looking at the CROSS OF CHRIST.
Our Lord who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
The mind of Christ which is the willingness to give up rights or personal privilege, to give in, to take a lower place. For our God it meant giving up the right to his life, to die purposefully for the good of someone else.
When we became leaders and members we understood that we need to put the things of Christ first, when we are willing to suffer loss that the honor and glory of Christ might be advanced, it will bring harmony and unity to our community. We're not to consider our needs the most important, but we're to commit ourselves to serve the needs of others, not with a sense of entitlement but with a desire for servanthood. That is what we are all about in CFC.
God have mercy on us all.
CD, thanks for the videos.

let us see what nonong contreras will say this time that Vatican and CBCP recognitions were indeed cited by Bp. Reyes to have remained with "the original CFC, with GK as one of its ministries...".
the high will be made low... LOL!
Hi, CD! Thanks for these materials that open the eyes of of our brethren.
Would you have a copy of the Bishop's "five-page statement" on which the latest CBCP news is based? Sounds to me that such is the long-awaited official statement of the Bishops regarding this controversy. If so, I would assume that the IC of CFC, as well as the FFL has been issued a copy. Mas magandang makita ang primary source, bago maglabas na namn si Nonong ng kanyang interpreation of this CBCP news.
BTW, curious lang. Nakakapagtrabaho ka pa ba ng ibang bagay other than to manage this blog? This must take so much of your time and energy. Ahhh.. what love for God and CFC can do. I salute and honor you for it, kapatid. God bless.
Buenas Dias to all,

Im sorry but i just could not understand why you asked if we can still evangelize after non cfc can read all these blog? It is not for us to doubt God and His ways..we are just but instruments of GOd's awesome power, thus to ask such question is moot....why doubt God? we evangelize not out of our own strength but through God's strength..nakalimutan na ba natin na hind ito gawain ng tao, kundi gawain ng Diyos?
WE do not stop evangelizing just because we are afraid that nobody will believe us anymore because of what is happening to our community...all the more that we need to persevere amidst all these so that in the end, we cannot claim for our own the glory that God deserves...Why limit God?
Watching the Video, I could feel it! There was a holy inspiration and a presence there. I am sure those who were present will always love to recall those moments.
Maybe it was very un-CFC like for some to walk out. Maybe some could not see beyond the "logs in their eyes" what was God's message because they stuck too much on their own plans.
God wanted an Election!
I heard it once said "Vox Populi, Vox Dei" (sorry mga Bro, gusto ko lang magpa-impress..kidding), but it's true...Voice of the People , Voice of God.
The referendum was done, the selection whether it was going to be a vote for 7 (All New Council) or a vote for 3 (w/its many convoluted implications) was subjected to a vote and the vote for 3 lost.
The opinions of those who wanted to speak was graciously received - pro or con on the issue, and all of those who spoke, spoke well, I might say.
So this was really God's way. Even these words I write could have been Frank's (I admit though he writes better, I assume too much.) if it was not him who resigned.
That was was a room-full of happy people...smiles, hand-shakes, back-pats, some tears, and embraces all around. The angels were dancing, I guess. How I wish I was there!
Yet there was a walkout.
That was God's plan too! He thwarts the proud and the lowly he raises.
God be Praised! God Bless the New Council ... be humble brothers and stay focused on our Lord Jesus Christ!
Bishop Reyes sheds light on CFC split
Manila, September 6,2007 - CBCP Episcopal Commission on the Laity and Antipolo Bishop Gabriel V. Reyes expressed concern over the reported split within the Couples for Christ (CFC).
In a five-page statement released to the CBCP Media Office late Thursday afternoon, Bishop Reyes said they discussed last August 28 important matters about the Couples for Christ with the complaint of Bro. Frank Padilla that “Couples for Christ, because of Gawad Kalinga, is veering away from the vision/mission of CFC and from Catholic teachings and because of Gawad Kalinga enough manpower and resources are not given to the other ministries like evangelization and catechesis.” It was also reported Social Action “is too much stressed at the expense of spirituality and evangelization.”
It was mentioned that “on several occasions, in wanting to get more donors and partners for its projects, it is hiding its identity as a CFC project or ministry and also its connection with the Catholic church.” Specific instances were mentioned during the closed door meeting that lasted from 10:00 A.M. to past 6:00 P.M. at the CBCP’s Commission on the Laity office at CLP Building in Intramuros.
Bishop Reyes said Bro. Jose Tale, the new Couples for Christ leader acknowledged “Gawad Kalinga is a child of CFC, is a ministry of CFC” and “that Gawad Kalinga cannot be separated from CFC.”
Bishop Reyes said the CFC statutes were approved by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and by the Pontifical Council for the Laity of the Vatican. He cited the first paragraph of the Statutes of the Couples for Christ under the heading “Nature and Purpose,” says “Couples for Christ is a private international association of the faithful of pontifical right recognized by the Pontifical Council of the Laity. It is committed to the work of global evangelization and renewal, with the goal of winning the world for Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The prelate from Antipolo said “to evangelize is to follow the command of Our Lord Jesus: “Make disciples of all nations” and hastened to add “CFC should not downplay or downgrade this purpose of CFC for the sake of getting more donors or partners.”
He added the teachings of the CFC and the Catholic Churc were the ones that inspired CFC members, who provide most of the manpower in Gawad Kalinga, to work for the poor through Gawad Kalinga. He said “Gawag Kalinga was meant to be a witness to Christ, that it was the teachings of Jesus Christ and love for Him that made people work for the poor in Gawad Kalinga.”
MOB: This puts importance on what Tale said that "that Gawad Kalinga cannot be separated from CFC." It also emphasizes the need for spirituality of the volunteers in order to be witnesses to Christ' love. Whereas my opinion before was that GK in the future can be separated from CFC, I'm changing now to the opinion that CFC formation is vital to volunteers. It should be noted though that there are other ways of spiritual formation outside CFC.
Bishop Reyes cited two more statutes, namely 9.1 and 9.61 which state that Couples for Christ is a Catholic community, though open to membership by non-Catholic Christians, will follow whatever guidelines on relationship with non-Catholics that the bishop may have for his diocese.
He said another complaint by Bro. Frank Padilla and his group was Gawad Kalinga’s acceptance of donations even from corporations manufacturing contraceptives contradicting CFC’s pro-life stance. Bishop Reyes said Mr. Tony Meloto’s answer published at the Philippine Daily Inquirer “proves that this complaint is true.” He quoted Tony Meloto that “GK is non-partisan. We do not take any side in building a nation in the same manner that we do not pass judgment on any corporation that we engage. We do not even ask them what their (corporations) products are as long as they want to help.”
MOB: This means Meloto misinterpreted the policies of GK (assuming there are) or the policies of CFC (by implication of CFC's submission to Catholic rules). It's possible this is an honest mistake and is a result of existing uncertainty in policies. It might also be a tendency of Meloto to be politically correct with the unintended result of compromising the stand of Catholicism on these vital issues. In any case, the mistake does not take away the good fruits that Meloto and the volunteers passionately worked for. This can be corrected if Meloto (or whoever is running GK now) begins to follow the policies being laid out here. Everyone deserves a second chance (that would be up to the authorities).
In his statement, Bishop Reyes said “if Gawad Kalinga wants to operate more freely and more broadly than the vision/mission and nature of CFC will allow, then let it be a civic organization or an organization with a vision/mission and nature different from that of CFC.”
Bishop Reyes said he recalled Frank and Gerry Padilla are members of the Pontifical Council for Family of the Vatican. He said “the Council is headed by Cardinal Trujillo and is composed of bishops, priests and lay people as they were appointed to this Council mainly because Frank was then ‘head’ of the CFC.”
He added the Pontifical Council for the Family “is against receiving funds from corporations that produce artificial contraceptives.”
MOB: This corrected my previous thought that the Church accepts money regardless of whether the donor is an admitting sinner or not. In the case of contraception corporations, they are considered habitual sinner by their indefinite manufacturing of contraception. (On a side note, it would be interesting to find out if Catholics are sinning when they work for these corporations, I'll research on that when I have more time after all these sleep-deprivation exercises). I don't know though whether this policy by the Church is because of the sin implied by contraception or because it doesn't want to be associated with such corporation which can taint the stand of the Church.
“So there is an additional reason that urges Bro. Frank Padilla to object against receiving donations from drug companies that produce contraceptives,” Bishop Reyes said.
Dialogues have been made to address these complaints but eventually led to a stalemate.
Bishop Reyes said the CBCP “has no authority over the Couples for Christ in the national level,” because “it can only make recommendations to the Couples for Christ.”
MOB: This proves that the Elders Assembly did not disobey the Bishops as the advise given to postpone the election is just a recommendation and not a command. Therefore the election which was held in order and with very civil and prayerful people is valid. It is also an anointment to the new International Council by virtue of the tradition that the voters have invoked the Power of the Holy Spirit in their prayers as they voted. This upholds what I've been taught from the start that our leaders in CFC are anointed.
He said only the Vatican, “through the Pontifical Council of the Laity, has the authority over it in the national and international level,” although every diocesan bishop has authority over it in his diocese as each diocesan bishop “has power to deny permission to CFC to function in his diocese, even if the association is international.”
MOB: This is a very important information that can be used in future problems. As a final solution to a persistent problem, CFC can ask for the wisdom of the Pontifical Council to settle issues. I'm not knowledgeable whether this only applies to matters of faith or if it also applies to administrative issues. It would be nice though if administrative issues can be settled internally without bothering the Church. That can be done if we have a strong conviction for following time-honored due process, as an example to future leaders and as a show of respect to previous leaders who have done them the same way before.
Its been more than 2 months after the election and it would have been nice if we had this statements from the Bishops then (that might have helped in avoiding escalation of the issue). To be fair to the Bishops though, these policies by the Church is probably publicly available in the Canon laws so anyone can really look at it and make a fair conclusion. Also, the Bishops probably paused for a moment after the election and discerned that it should act wisely and take time to study the situation less it's actions be interpreted inappropriately by any party.
The prelate said the CBCP through the Commission for the Laity “has the duty to inform the Pontifical Council of the Laity about the CFC regarding matters that it deems to be serious.”
“Since Bro. Jose Tale and the CFC Council committed to stop the practice of Gawad Kalinga from accepting funds from companies that produce contraceptives, the CBCP Commission for the Laity will not make any report about this to the Pontifical Council for the Laity.”
MOB: GK made a mistake, CFC promises to correct it. The Church is a forgiving body, exactly like Jesus.
I'm happy to hear that these issues will be dealt with. That's a confirmation that it's possible to solve the problem from within. We'll have to pray that the leaders would be able to execute on this.
“In the light of this, the original CFC, with Gawad Kalinga as one of its ministries, retains its recognition as an international private association of the faithful, which was given by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 2005,” Bishop Reyes said.
MOB: I'm happy to hear that CFC has not lost the Vatican recognition. Let's pray that the FFL would also achieve their own recognition by the Church in the different levels and eventually in the Vatican too, as it is a helpful tool they can use to evangelize (it's like a key to parishes). However, it's not a requirement to evangelize, anyone with a contrite and loving heart can be a witness to Christ.
It will also remain its recognition as a national private association of the faithful, which was given by the CBCP in 1996.
Money matters were never an issue between the contending parties.
MOB: This settles the issue on accusations of mismanagement of funds in the GK or in CFC. We should encourage all members to halt discussion on this subject, as it's ugly to the outside world. We should be happy in our thoughts that when we tithe, we pray that the money will go to it's rightful path and purpose, and that anyone who disturbs this path will have his/her day of reckoning. Vengeance is not ours. We can question accountability, but it should be done in a brotherly and private manner (using the principle of presumed innocent until proven guilty). It is unfair to people who have feelings to tarnish their reputation unnecessarily. It's also not unchristian to ask for apology if the accusation is wrong.
Bishop Reyes said discussions were made whether the two contending groups can still unite. “After an exchange of views, the two groups decided that ‘the most acceptable option at the moment is to separate ways due to some clear differences in mission, charism, and other points of deep disagreement.” However, Bishop Reyes said both parties are not closing the door on remaining as one united CFC. This separation would diffuse “the heightened and mounting tension and animosities between the two groups caused by accusations hurled against each other.”
MOB: If we can put our pride and emotions behind, unity is achievable. On the other hand, there really is nothing wrong with 2 groups having 2 different approaches to evangelization. Each one of us has a different calling, sometimes it can even be outside the 2 groups. When you're in FFL, there's no reason why you can't help GK on your own volition, in the same way that there's no reason why you can't be spiritual if you are in CFC. The recipe is to find and pray for a good balance.
The original CFC with Gawad Kalinga under Bro. Jose Tale “continues as a national and international private association of the faithful,” while the group of Bro. Frank Padilla “will form the Couples for Christ for Family and Life” and “should start as a diocesan association, “then later can apply for recognition as a national association if it has branches in other dioceses and even later as an international association.”
Bishop Reyes said “as a diocesan association, it can go to other dioceses provided the bishop of the place permits.”
He stressed “as long as the names are explained it will not cause confusion” for in the Philippines, there are groups with almost similar names as Marriage Encounter and Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Mother Butler’s Guild and Mother Butler’s Mission Guild, among others.
Bishop Reyes said he issued the clarification “because some news reports and columnists have misinterpreted some things that transpire or were said in the dialogue.” (Melo M. Acuna)
MOB: In the end, mission and vision of spreading the Good News is a testament to our fulfillment of God's commandment to love our neighbor. The Holy Spirit tells each one of us what our mission is. Sometimes the mission is not the important one but how we do it: if we do it with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength, and if we do it to glorify our Creator.
I am very thankful to Frank Padilla for bringing up these issues. My dream is to be a GK volunteer even for just 1 day. It would be hard to fulfill that dream if we don't have a golden set of rules in place. These turn of events certainly is a big help in laying out those rules. I am staying in CFC in case I can be of any help in finding a solution to these problems brought up. However, that's only secondary to my reason for staying which is my unchanging belief in the mission and vision of CFC. I am with joy for our brothers and sisters who have found their peace in FFL. I wish them well in their own mission.
My opinions are subject to change though. Who knows, the Lord might wake me up tomorrow with a different mission. Mission Impossible, anyone?
Marlon B. from CFC-NJ3A
Just so you can have an idea, the first 2 and 1/2 pages details the accusations of Bro. Frank against CFC. 1/2 a page regarding CFC's defense against the accusations. 1 paragraph about retaining the CBCP and Vatican recognition (only one paragraph???!?!?), then the rest about other issues (money matters, using the name of CFC, etc.)
lopsided? i do think so.
this will be a classic by bishop gabby: "It dawned on me sometime after the dialogue that the couple Frank Padilla and Gerry Padilla are members of the Pontifical Council for Family of the Vatican. This Council is headed by Cardinal Trujillo and is composed of bishops, priests, and lay people. Frank and Gerry Padilla were appointed to this Council mainly because Frank was then the "head" of CFC. The Pontifical Council for family is against receiving funds from corporations that produce artificial contraceptives. So there is an additional reason that urges Bro. Frank Padilla to object against receiving donations from drug companies that produce contraceptives."
IT DAWNED ON ME?!?!?! Sino ba talaga writer nito? MD? NC? Hello!!!
Questions.
When i was ask which side i will commit to, i said "I am staying with the CFC" I was then corrected that you are siding or joining CFC -GK ... I then asked i didnt know that CFC change their name. I was told that there are two CFC one GK and one FFL. I then asked i seen no documentation that CFC changed their name CFC-GK.
I explained that i am pro family, all my cfc life i have focus my mission in learning to become a better husband to my wife, father to my children, and son to our All mighty Father. BUt i can still fulfill that charism (empowerment) within the this community ... i dont have to create a splinter group share it with others... I pray my actions will give glory to Him.
- is this another spinning of the truth to meet their ways of recruiting?
Sleepless in NJ
I was disappointed and angry when i saw these documents.
I prayed asking God to forgive me... but i was reminded that there is term called "rigtheous anger"
it is a way for the Holy Spirit to correct someone through another.
Like what Father Mario Sobrejuente explained a good christian is open for correction of the Spirit... The spirit will convict us and open our eyes to the truth. But if you are full of pride and see yourself "MOST HOLIER THAN THOU" we could only find ourselves seperated from the God's wisdom.
Friends, if you find that the truth is being distorted and people have sort to deciet and relative truth... with love, We must find the courage to stand up for the truth and correct those who will distort and decieve us
Sleepless in NJ
Speak your mind, open your heart, see the truth, but please behave like Christians
Who has the right to carry the name CFC?
Who does the church recognize?
Is CFC and FFL separate?
CFC, please make an official statement concerning these questions.
I have heard such comments
"There are two CFC one for Family and one for the Poor (CFC-GK)"
"THe vatican recognition is on FP because he signed it. Where ever he goes he carries the Papal's Blessing."
"Bishop Reyes, has given FFL the right to have the CFC name."
- Are these the Truth?
- or another way to spin it (where is Bill Orielly when you need him)
- This is what they are saying in the US.
- THey have sullied GK supports name in the US (they have accused them for missing funds, unworthy to lead, giving misinformation, etc) and then asking everyone who would you join CFC-GK or CFC-FFL. (opinino)After the Bunnies Documents, could this be part of their political chess game by discrediting GK supporters, they can easily recruit the uninformed/misinformed?
I am tired of looking and not finding any official statement from CFC in such matters. Thank God for this blogsite.
is CFC afraid that they might be called "unchristian" if you give such information to all members?
Make a stand (rightious anger). Correct others with love, and if they persist then pray for them and move on... atleast you have made your voices heard.
Mr. CD, i thank you for this site. You have the Holy Spirit's empowerment to inform everyone about what is happening. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family.

to admin@cfcunited.com - why are you so affected by this blog... is your site really supporting FFL but posing as a group of concerned people that only wants unity - only bec it's what everybody wants? may i point out that ricky coronel is in your list even though he is for the FFL. he was one of the 5 US council members that stated they do not recognize ricky cuenca as the country coordinator bec they claim it is still FAP. maybe he does want a united cfc, all under FAP. and i'm just pointing out one person from your list, there are a lot of questionable people there. while your site is good in the sense that it shows how many people want just one cfc, i question its integrity, sorry to say. may God have mercy on us all.
Pwede bang maka download ng election video?
To west c divided:
Need you ask who could have written the statement? of course, Bishop Gabby! But whose ideas and clarifications are contained? After the Aug. 28 dialogue, the first statement/email from Nonong/Easter group emphasized the representation by Frank & Gerry of CFC in the Vatican. Then, within a week from Aug. 28, the same thing "dawned" on Bp Gabby, and he used it to bolster Frank's position against funding from makers of contraceptives. That point was already a given -- as long ago as when Frank was still the chair of the GK board, which he held since its inception in 2003. It was part of his duty. So there was no need to stress in this clarification that Frank had all the reasons to SPEAK and TALK about it . [BTW, can anyone or the bishop clarify for us what Frank DID about it when he was GK chairman?]
Take it for what it is - a subtle way to reinforce Nonong/Easter group's email message that Frank & Gerry are the representatives in the Vatican. So gets mo kung kanino galing ang contents, in part? Need we wonder why Nonong kept on insisting that everyone should wait for the bishops' official communique before making their respective group's statement, claiming it would pre-empt the bishop's announcement?
After more than a week of waiting, what do we gate -- A bishop's clarification, which contains what? The bishop's personal account of the Aug 28 dialogue PLUS ruminations AFTER the dialogue that bolster Frank's stature.
The interval between Aug. 28 to Sept 6 certainly afforded ample time for the integration of other ideas in the bishop's clarification. Anyone close to the bishop could have thrown in his version of how the bishop should present and react to the various misinterpretation of media. (BTW - do you think that the media was interested in the identity of the CFC representative to Vatican? Di ba si Nonong ang nag-raise niyan immediately after the dialogue? O, bakit for clarification for the media? Baka para sa CFC members ang clarification, kasi poacher's ground)
Ok, let's say that the Bishop wrote it, signed, it and owns the statements in the clarification. Please note that it is written in the FIRST PERSON, using "Me" "I am" for the pronoun. So it has to be taken within this context -- in so far as the any item NOT transpiring on Aug 28 dialogue are concerned, First – it is a PERSONAL clarification of Bp. Reyes. Second - it is his clarification as the a bishop of ANTIPOLO, the only diocese which recognizes FFL, of which he is also the spiritual director. Hence, he needs to support and be protective of FFL and its position. Was it the position of the 5-bishop panel? Well, I didn't see the signature of the others.
Mga kapatid, again, please note the use of "I" "I am" and such phrase emotional phrase as as "it is a pity that.... " in the body of the CLARIFICATION. Note then that as yet, there is still no official communique nor minutes of meeting on the proceedings of the Aug. 28 dialogues from the CBCP 5-bishop panel, signed by all the bishops.
It figures. We should have known by now. Just recall who originated and escalated to crisis proportion the issue of "disobedience" to “strong recommendation.” Now we are reading from the same bishop adviser of the Easter group that the CBCP “has no authority over the Couples for Christ in the national level,” because “it can only make recommendations to the Couples for Christ.” At the collegial level amongst bishops, Bp Reyes had to acknowledge that a “strong recommendation” is just that - a recommendation which does not require submission nor obedience.
1. nasaan yung portion ng walk-out? sa Part4 ba yun kaya lang hindi na pinakita sa video.
2. maayos naman pala yung proseso ng botohan pagboto ng IC. we all have to accept the outcome if we are to follow the majority of the EA. hindi naman kasi puedeng baguhin to favor one side or to push for a specific agenda.
3. if there are changes required for this process, i think the pastoral congress will have to address it like setting term limits to Council leaders, etc.
CD, thank you for posting the video. we are only hearing it during the blitzkrieg of FFL.
Bro, meron bang video version yung talk ni Fr. Mario.
Tx,
Servant
To jiggsaw,
Yes, just like you, I wanted to see that portion as well. Apparently the group of Bro Frank left when the election process started.
Here are the stats from the registration report:
1) Total EA members- 231
2) Num of members who voted for
referendum - 196
3) Joe Tale got - 133 votes
4) 19- did not participate in the regular elections.
Whether they stayed or left, I do not know.
Yes, it was a Spirit-filled occasion and I am blessed because I was part of that day...
My husband is Nonoy Dalman, and he was the chair of the Comelec.
To everyone,
Let us forgive all who caused us to become upset, disturbed and angry. CFC and FFL brothers and sisters alike.
To FFFL,
Peace be with you. This is your new community, take care of it, with your revived energy inspire others to serve well.
To CFC,
Let us all be peacemakers, that is what the LORD requires.
My Personal Observations on the video:
1. I admire JT's patience and how he facilitated the meeting and dealt with all the sharers.
He is a peacemaker.
2. I am irked by the stageshow of reconciliation. Kisses, embraces, handshakes and prayers that meant nothing. Show of hipocrisy and plasticity. What elders we have!
3. I love E. Andrews passionate speech on unity. He however confuses me if he "walks-the-talk" - being a member of the Easter Playboy Bunnies. His actions are worrisome.
4. Overall, the meeting and election process was carried out well - again kodus to JT.
As a viewer and an outsider, the EA's integrity has been negatively exposed - including the whole CFC community. It exposed to the world -- this is what is inside of CFC. Lots of Pharisees!!
About the funds coming from the contraceptive corporations, I don't think it would be a big issue on GK.
Unless we are openly promoting their products to GK beneficiaries, then why should we fear.
If I remember it right, even the Good Cardinal, the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, even said that he would accept money from jueteng, gambling, war and drug lords and give them to the poor.
We cannot be choosy, can we.
The most important is we help the contraceptive corporations know what GK is all about and what it can do.
Those who are clean, please throw the first stone.
Just a few notes:
- SEC has denied FFL the use of the CFC name. It is incorrect to refer to them as CFC-FFL, unless one decides they are no longer under the law of the land (though the Bible says we are)
- Why has no specific contraception manufacturing company been mentioned? Has this statement been released prior to actual investigations of the issues? Is it possible the company might merely be a pharmaceutical company, manufacturing a broad array of healthcare products? Should we have expected GK to ask for a full manifesto of all products they manufacture? Somehow I doubt GK is receiving sponsorship from an obvious brand such as Durex. Given this, it seems like we might have a lot of fuss over a mere oversight (once we have confirmation it exists).
- Why is there so much emphasis on the person of Frank? If FFL has independent merit it should stand without Frank's personality attracting people. If this is not at all about power, as Frank maintains, I would ask him to please step away from FFL, so we can see whether it is something that will stand on its own without his strength of personality drawing people.
This feels like Corinthians.."It is said there is division among you...some are saying "I follow Paul", others "I follow Apollos"....but who is Paul, who is Apollos - mere servants!"
There is only God, who is worth following.
I do not even know the names of the seven on the council (save Joe Tale) but I know they were elected to lead us, through the very management mechanisms put in place by our leadership (under Frank) to protect us from abuse of power and the following of mere personalities.
I hope we can do that now. Who is Frank? Who is Tony? It's not about either, that we should follow them.
The council has been elected. It is there job to guide CFC, and if it is there job to make sure evangelism is bolstered through CFC in GK communities, all the better! Hallelujah!
Brothers,
If you do not know yet, President Frank Padilla of FFL of the Antopolo Diocese, under an anthority yet unknown, wrote a letter to all 7 members of the CFC International Council telling all of them Mon, July 16, 2007 directly from his e-mail a: fap@pacific.net.ph titled "my appeal to you":
"....many have lost trust in your leadership. By your disrespect to our beloved Bishops and lack of proper pastoral responsiveness to the deep crisis in our community, your mandate to govern us has become questionable. You have in fact endangered our mission and you continue to be the cause of disunity. It is in this light that I ask you to resign as Council members. This is the honorable thing to do. This is what will lay the foundation for peace and unity. Please make this sacrifice for the greater good."
Please reconcile this statement --oh by the way, all the 7 members of the Council can forward this e-mail to all who ask for it, even if you live in Kiribakti. (that's a country friends!) -- with the fact that the writer is RESIGNED CFC MEMBER!!
Then tell me, who should really act like a Christian?
Brothers, who are Country heads who initiated withdrawing support to the CFC Council, nowis the time to re-think your position as you get this information. Don't be attached to your loyalty and friendship to Frank and your Regional Heads for countries of Europe Americas and Australia.
My husband and I have been looking at the actuations of both sides for some time now. And when it became known that FFL has indeed formally been formed, we have already decided to stay on and serve with CFC. One reason is because we have seen our elected leaders conduct themselves in this farce. And they did so in dignity and conduct very becoming of Christian leaders. We continue to pray that God give them the strength to overcome.
FFL has been holding office in the Starmall Apartelle for more than a week now. My office is nearby and I see people coming and going - some I know by face, a lot by name, some I have worked with in YFC events in the past. And I know that some of them still are "working" at the CFC center in Ortigas and are drawing "salaries". I heard that it was because Frank has told them to "stay put". If this is true, then it saddens me a lot. Is this how they teach these young full time workers to conduct themselves? Has these idealistic young men been reduced to such hypocrisy?
just want to know the people who walked out and whether they all joined ffl or stayed with the community... thank you.
brother ca - i salute all your effort on this site. peace be with you.
Everyone-everyone is missing the point! Satan is celebrating in his hellhole in the most grandeur way! Victory for him on all fronts, left, right, up, down, bottom, up!!! Satan succeeded in infiltrating the CFC leadership in the most cunning, wily, subtle maneuver!!! The membership in now being led in a terrible confusion. Harvest time for Satan.
CFC has a contract with the Catholic Church/God/Holy Spirit. A contract that the Catholic Church/God/Holy Spirit honored for 26-glorious years in exchange for being an obedient, godly, God fearing, evangelizing people of CFC. Ask Bro. Frank Padilla about that contract. He signed it. We can even see a copy here in the internet. THERE IS A CONTRACT/AGREEMENT BETWEEN CFC AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH/GOD/HOLY SPIRIT BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!!
We have been operating under its laws of agreement for 26-good, fruitful years. We listen to HIM, He blesses us. He even allows us to argue with HIM a lot of times. He even allows us to sin but, we be GODLY about it. We sin, we repent. It is but natural. GOD knows us in and out, isn't it?
Our God works in mysterious ways meaning Satan can and does too. He's a master liar and deceptor remember? Watch carefully "the 2007 cfc intl council election video". Satan in his best move that some even enterprete it as the presence of Holy Spirit. Inserting himself in the midst of confusion. One young brother reminded everyone of the danger of holding the election against the advise of the Bishops. Nooooooo!!!!!! But too late. Satan won in that split moment of historical importance for CFC. THE DATE AND TIME OF DISOBEDIENCE. THE DATE AND TIME THAT CFC BROKE THE CONTRACT/AGREEMENT. God cried for each of us on this date brothers and sisters. A sin of disobedience was committed and we know there are consequences. Pag may kasalanan may consequence at parusa. The leadership broke the contract and they do not want to repent. Satan is capitalizing on this and he is succeeding. They know God's words but satan is also hard at work. They even know the solution but they prefer to dwell on ungodliness instead of holiness, forgiveness and God's love. The fact is there was a sin of disobedience that was committed and there is no forgiveness and repentance up to this time. What's going on is the manipulation of the membership towards each side burying that sin of disobedience in the process thereby misleading a group of faithful in the practice of the faith. That sin of disobedience will be inherited by a group because it is not cleared or accounted for in the eyes of the Catholic Church/God/Holy Spirit.
Dear leaders, please don't bring us to choose your side and inherit the sin of disobedience. We need you and will follow you and serve Jesus with our whole heart but please clear your sin according to the teachings and the covenant card that you signed first.
Naiintindihan ko na nag-kasakitan na kayong mga brothers but that is also an opportunity for you to be holy and defeat Satan (the real enemy). You have all the chance to be HOLY in our eyes and the eyes of our God. Forgive and embrace your Brothers for Jesus sake for it is the only way to be forgiven for disobedience - you have to do it together. We cannot do it for you.
I am endorsing the "cfc united" idea of reconciliation for you dear leaders. You can make it work with all intellegience and guide from the Holy Spirit or my suggestion is - have 2-representatives from both sides represent you plus 1-bishop. This 5-man committee will be over and above the 7-International Council and you can use it as a venue to settle your issues including the separation if you wish. But, the true purpose is for you as CFC to be able to attain forgiveness from GOD without hurting anyone's pride. Nagka-sala ang CFC so, CFC ang dapat patawarin. Otherwise, ano at saan napunta yung kasalanan ng disobedience?
I am aching from the situation and confused about the decision making. The situation I am placed into was not my making and I have to speak for my faith in Jesus. So dear leaders, no offense po. I pray that healing and reconciliation come sooner than later. God bless you and may CFC be in God's glorious favor for a long long time to come.
Prayerfully yours,
ecthreetimes
TO ecthreetimes-- you said -
1. "The fact is there was a sin of disobedience that was committed and there is no forgiveness and repentance up to this time."
Kapatid, please know this latest statement from Bishop Gabby Reyes in his latest clarification -- "THE Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines HAS NO AUTHORITY OVER the Couple for Christ in the national level. IT CAN ONLY MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS to Couples for Christ, NOT IMPOSITIONS." (All CAPS supplied for emphasis)_
-- This should settle the matter if disobedience was indeed committed or not. "Recommendation" implies the exercise of choice; it does not demand obedience; otherwise, it becomes an imposition. Bp. Gabby Reyes has spoken. If you do not subscribe to Bishop Gaby Reyes' categorical statement on the LIMITATION of the CBCP's authority over CFC, then you are being disobedient.
2. My other point - Move on. Don't languish. Just know first that there was no disobedience. Those who cried "disobedience!" already separated. The separation is now a fact with FP's "Moving Forward #3".
So move on - With CFC or with FFL -- your choice and discernment. Pray hard. May you have the Lord's peace.
to the brother/sister critical of cfcunited.com
i just want to clarify that cfcunited.com is not pro-FFL. all the cfcunited moderator is asking is for everyone to stop bashing people who don't agree with your point of view. there is no hidden agenda.
another point i would like to say is that Ricky Coronel from Southern California is not pro-FFL. His statement to the leaders of Southern California is that he will go wherever the majority of the members he is serving will go. I have to give it to you -- their initial statement not recognizing the IC may be premature and may have been worded strongly.
All the cfcunited supporters care about is that we don't want to lose members who may be disillusioned by what is happening with our community. Again, cfcunited.com is not pro-FFL. I support cfcunited.com and I will never ever join FFL.
Again, please let us show we are Christians by our words and actions.
May God bless us all.
In the words of Frank Padilla:
God has indeed anointed CFC as a prophetic voice. And today the integrity of CFC and of GK is unquestioned and is one of our greatest strengths. Many in society look to CFC for leadership on moral, spiritual and national issues.
United we stand and prosper
The enemy will always try to divide us.
We must strenuously guard our unity.
In this, look to the following:
1. We are one family and all in CFC are our brethren. We must love one another and be loyal to each other.
2. We must always be open to fraternal correction. This is a manifestation of love and is intended for our good. Such openness is a sign of humility and desire to follow God.
3. There must never be loose talk, gossip or backbiting.
4. We must not have a negative attitude, one of complaining and grumbling.
5. We must encourage one another in every way.
And...
There is to be no conflict between GK/Ancop and the rest of our work of evangelization and renewal. These comprise the one work of the one community of CFC. God raised CFC in different stages and prepared it for the fullness of its work today, especially the work of GK. CFC gave birth to and is the foundation for GK.
CFC is humbled and privileged to be an instrument for doing this, and our work with the poor, especially Gawad Kalinga (GK) together with its partners, is His way of restoring hope and dignity to nations.
Our Christian model of development and nation building through GK follows the path of Jesus.
I just wish that Frank would now stand by his words.
Does God change his mind so easily? Or is it merely humans who do?
per cfc southern california: another point i would like to say is that Ricky Coronel from Southern California is not pro-FFL. His statement to the leaders of Southern California is that he will go wherever the majority of the members he is serving will go. I have to give it to you -- their initial statement not recognizing the IC may be premature and may have been worded strongly.
to give a vote of no confidence to the IC means one has taken a side and is therefore not consistent with what cfcunited stand for.
if Ricky Coronel is still "discerning" then he could have abstained in the vote. i can understand the 1st NO could have been done prematurely due to the high emotions going on. but to continue to make the same stand when ask a 2nd time after the NC conference, that is not an act of unity.
Look up the term "righteous anger"
Bro. CD, this site gives many the voice their concerns and correct others who wish to twist and spin the truth to meet their means.
I encourage others to keep researching, dont be content to the version of the "truth" each side presents. Be watchful for inconsistency in their logic and see them by their fruits.

For ecthreetimes: You are right, there could be a solution and your recommendation sounds fair enough. If you can get the FFL and CFC to come to the table in the US that is already a start. However, seeing how the FFL members (most of them leaders of their areas mind you) is blaming the CFC members who stayed and recognize the IC as their spiritual leaders for the disunity, do you think they will come to the table and even speak to "these people", after all, we are not anointed, we are just members, we are not good enough to carry the charism of CFC. THEY are the anointed leaders, keepers of the charism, how dare we even think that we know who IS the real CFC. Stop and listen and you will realize why a lot of us who wanted to remain in a united CFC gave up because we were forced to stay with our anointed leaders who knows what is best for us. Let us know if you are able to get 2-2-1 and start the dream of a united CFC, we just might consider coming back. but not now, not after this, we obviously don't deserve to be in such a holy community.(used-to-be-kfc-yfc-almost-sfc-now-lostsheep)
Why did you remove latest statement of Bro. Tony Meloto?
Why is the wife of Tony Meloto with the IC meeting with the Bishops? Is she a member of the IC?
To anonymous who asked:
"Why did you remove latest statement of Bro. Tony Meloto?"
"Why is the wife of Tony Meloto with the IC meeting with the Bishops? Is she a member of the IC?"
SAGOT-
1. The Tony who wrote about the Aug 28 proceedings was not Tony Meloto, but Tony GIMENEZ. He is the husband of ZENY GIMENEZ, of the famous 'email to Frank". So walang naremove na "statement of Bro. Tony Meloto" kasi wala naman talaga siyang statement dito sa blog ni CD.
2. No, LYN MELOTO DID NOT ATTEND the Aug 28 dialogue with the Bishop. It was ZENY GIMENEZ (wife of Tony Gimenez - the "Tony" who you mistook for Tony Meloto) who attended the Aug. 28 meeting upon the IC's invitation. Each group was entitled to bring 10 persons to the table. Apart from the 7 council members, the CFC panel included Luis Oquinena, Zeny Gimenez and Didi Galsim.
Given these clarifications, kindly read again the earlier comments to put you in the proper perspective.
My unsolicited advice to one and all - WHEN IN DOUBT, LET'S NOT MAKE HASTY CONCLUSIONS. IT IS BEST TO CLARIFY FIRST.(Which Francisco did and ZAC also realized later.)
GOD BLESS, EVERYONE ... CFC & FFL and CFCUnited.
Thank you for the clarification, Mina.

Direct Relationship…. Direct Love
Dear KFC,YFC, Almost SFC
If you would let me share with you what my father taught me. He said, “Intimacy in Christ was given to us and paid by his Love for us on the cross. No person, institution, or transgression should come between Christ’s love for you.”
During that time, I was at a loss about what he meant. Later, I learned and understood that we, as Christians, are directly connected to Him, with the help of the Holy Spirit. There should be no person, group, or organization that should come between us and Christ’s Love. We should not cling to a person or persons, rituals, or system to achieve such intimacy.
Christ’s Love is not dependent on which group you are in, color of your skin, age, money, etc. We are all directly connected to Him, with nothing in between (no middleman). He has loved us and continues to love us, especially in times of trials and doubts.
Christ called us by name, it wasn’t our leaders…. The Holy Spirit taught us how to achieve an intimacy with Jesus. God the Father, through Jesus Christ, is proud to call you his child. Remember that no one can take that away from you, not leaders, government, trials, or even our frailties.
“Who can separate us from the Love of Jesus Christ…”

You must have searched at the wrong entry (i.e., this entry for CFC election video). Bro. Tony's (GIMENEZ, NOT MELOTO) statement is in the entry before this one - re the Bishop's clarification. I hope that's the "statement" that you are referring to. Please check again.

Brothers and Sisters....I'm really disappointed and saddened reading all your comments. We are God's people, and called ourselves 'Christian'. If we want to retain our members to stay with CFC, then stop all these negative comments with the other group, just talk about what's good in this CFC and why we should stay (not at the expense of FFL). Peace be with all of you. God Bless.

"Im sorry but i just could not understand why you asked if we can still evangelize after non cfc can read all these blog?"
Evangelization is witnessing, fulfilling the Great commission. Question is will God use you if you failed to love, forgive, reconcile? Answer is yes definitely, the question is will He use you effectively? Can we give to others what we dont have? Can we lead others to God if we failed to become witnesses of Christ's teaching?

"why are you so affected by this blog... is your site really supporting FFL but posing as a group of concerned people that only wants unity - only bec it's what everybody wants? may i point out that ricky coronel is in your list even though he is for the FFL."
we cannot judge people who signed up in the cfcunited.com, because we do not know what is in their hearts. Only God knows our hearts. If you would sign up I wouldnt know what is in your heart unless you tell me. The intention of cfcunited is to make a venue for all ordinary members in cfc who wants to have a voice to be heard by our leaders that WE DO NOT WANT TO CHOOSE, WE WANT UNITY. WE WANT THEM TO RECONCILE AND BE UNITED.
God Bless all of us.
Sad to say that CFC Canada is as messy as Manila. CFC Canada is now split into two groups. Politicking and pirating of members is at its peak.
Both groups have leaders with questionable characters and integrity. It seems that the Canada leaders are being coerced by the Manila leaders.
The split separated the men from the boys.
There is never a perfect community.
But to split a community based on Jesus...?
To admin@cfcunited.com,
I believe most of CfC support and believe in your vision, the problem is that you're preaching to the choir. The split was orchestrated by the FFL. They have made the decision to separate from CfC, citing reasons that range from GK, evangelization, and financial issues, among others. They are openly sniping CfC members into their fold, collecting tithes meant for CfC, and constantly issue statements (courtesy of Nonong Contreras) that make the re-unification of CfC and FFL a fading possibility. What you are witnessing here are reactions of people who are being exposed to the truth about what's going on. By your constant appeals to put a stop to it, do you mean for me to stop revealing this information as well? What are you doing to stop FFL from doing what they are doing? Also, can you clarify once and for all if Ricky Coronel is with FFL or not? How about a statement from him?
Thank you.
brother cd, can I address this to you in your personal email? Thanks let me know your email add so that I could email you back. God Bless.
To admin@cfcunited.com,
Also, how do you plan to bring FFL and CfC back together considering the FFL has already tried to register a new corporation (identity) with the SEC? Isn't an appeal for a united CfC a moot point when there is already A UNITED CFC and all you have to do is support the only real one that has been affirmed and re-affirmed by the bishops in CBCP and the Vatican?
What exactly are you trying to unite? The split is a done deal, the sad work of those who tried to break apart CfC has already been done. A new organization has been created and their goals have already been stated.
Shouldn't your duty now be to TRY AND KEEP IT TOGETHER, prevent the FFL from recruiting CfC members, and exhort existing CfC members to just concentrate on what they do for CfC?
I feel that what you are doing in expending efforts to RE-unite CfC is just dilluting what you should be doing for CfC, as that STILL EXISTS, is still fulfulling its mandate, and needs YOUR WORK now more than ever. The people who have decided to go with FFL are now with a different organization. May their efforts in evangelizing be blessed and successful, but they have already chosen.
DO YOUR WORK FOR CFC. That is what is important now because then you will help further its holy cause, its mission, and its mandate.

Brother its not a done deal, I quote from the Bishops letter,
However, both parties are not closing the door on remaining as one united CFC.
Shouldn't your duty now be to TRY AND KEEP IT TOGETHER, prevent the FFL from recruiting CfC members, and exhort existing CfC members to just concentrate on what they do for CfC?
Have you forgotten the greatest commandment? Our real mandate?
This is My commandment, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER as I have LOVED YOU." John 15:12-14

CFCunited,
My question:
"Also, how do you plan to bring FFL and CfC back together considering the FFL has already tried to register a new corporation (identity) with the SEC? Isn't an appeal for a united CfC a moot point when there is already A UNITED CFC and all you have to do is support the only real one that has been affirmed and re-affirmed by the bishops in CBCP and the Vatican?"
And your response:
"Brother its not a done deal, I quote from the Bishops letter,
However, both parties are not closing the door on remaining as one united CFC."
I believe the Bishop's statement to be an idealistic one at best. How can you say it is not a done deal when the FFL is already holding office in a separate building, collecting tithes under their name, and recruiting members?
I do feel you haven't addressed the bulk of the question. I'd like to know what your plans are...
to people concern with cfcunited.com - I think the initial appeal by admin@cfcunited.com was for everyone from all sides to avoid attacking people personally as it is unchristian. I didn't think he/she meant that all the comments should stop (from his/her tone, he's/she's only referring to the unchristian comments). In my case, I want the comments to continue as long as things are done in a very constructive and brotherly way. He/she was also worried about the challenge of evangelizing now that CFC name is "ruined" (though I'm not saying that it is). That's exactly how I felt too. The response from anonymous was very enlightening and made me realize it's just gonna be OK. He said that evangelizing is a work of God through you and there is really nothing to be ashamed of in case we get rejected because of our infighting. In my thoughts, he was right. Our shame is nothing compared to what Christ suffered. As for the hidden agenda about "unity", in our area here, the word "unity" is being used to get people to move to FFL. If a big chunk of people are moving to FFL, those who stay behind in CFC are branded as anti-unity and are getting the blamed of why we can't be united. If the KFC, YFC and SFC children of the CFC minority are prevented by their parents from joining their peers that are under FFL, those parents get the blame. There are also cases where if the coordinators of YFC/KFC/SFC are with FFL, the ministries are then assumed to be under FFL even though the kids don't know about it. I have a few friends who were also shocked to find out that they are already FFL members without them knowing. The FFL mission is actually very godly and nice, but it's clouded by the dirty tactics they're using.
So it might be understandable if C.D. might cringe on the word "unity". However, cfcunited.com seems to be OK on its ideas. It's possible it has hidden agendas but I would not judge them yet without merit (who are we to judge). For me, cfcunited.com is doing a good thing of attempting unity. Looking at the people I know who signed up in the site, a big chunk of them are staying in CFC (I think) so seeing a few FFLs is not really an indication that the site is pro-FFL. Besides, anyone can sign-up. I would avoid judging cfcunited.com. In time, cfcunited.com might "evolve" but until that time, we'll just have to give it the benefit of the doubt. For C.D., this is a nice site (thanks so much). I pray that you would have a lot of time to filter out the unchristian comments so the discussion is brotherly. Also, when we correct people, or refute opinion of others, we should do it with humility. We want to maintain peace even though we might be disagreeing. God bless you and remember, I love you all, specially you cfcunited and C.D. (and lots of thanks to that anonymous who enlightened me).
to CFCunited and anonymous,
My apologies if I was seeming argumentative. I was just sincerely curious if there were any plans in place to unite CfC and FFL. I thought it would be of interest for all concerned.
God Bless...
to admin @CFCunited.com:
People or groups or organisms separate or fragment because they cannot agree, or they have different ideas. So there can be unity in diversity.
The One Day Prayer Rally yesterday at the Ultra is an example. One of the speakers in fact said it best --"Unity does not mean we have to be one. Unity simply means having the same vision, the same purpose."
My question to you is this: Don't you think that by insisting on your cfcunited, that you are further fragmenting the community? You are forming a third force and forcing people to make a choice they should not have to be confronted with! Remember there would have been no "split" if FFL did not leave. Semantics or splitting hairs aside, they did leave, as evidenced by their SEC application, their stickers, their letterhead logos, their insistence before the bishops that they cannot return to the original CFC. It was Frank who forced all of us to make a choice between CFC the original and FFL. Now you're further muddling the issue.
Can't you take a cue from the anointed leaders (and indeed they are anointed) and be quiet for a change? Listen to the Holy Spirit. Do not add to the cacophony of voices.
Unity comes from the heart, kapatid. That can't be forced upon anyone.
would like to ask again who walked out during the elections and whether they have joined ffl or not. thanks!
It took me sometime to have the courage to write because I already became a nominal CFC.
But when I learned about this news in Manila, I became curious and then somebody told me about this blog and now there is no day that I don't open it.
Thank you CD for now i get news, with funny, irritating, surprising, well written and not so well written comments, etc, etc.
I just need to make some request. Watching the election video is like watching a movie, except on this one you cannot really appreciate what the persons were saying because you do not know who they are (sorry, matagal na ako dito sa abroad at hindi nga uma-attend, kaya di ko sila kilala).
Maybe they are known in Manila, but I am sure hindi rin lahat ng nasa abroad killa sila.
Another request, will cD please tell us if after they talked on video, binuhay ba nila yung salita nila? Baka naman ang ganda ng sinabi pero yun pala, kay FFL or masyadong tumagal sa "discernment or unity"?
Who among the ones that talked also walkout? To those persons, saludo ako, because at least alam nila side nila.
For me arte lang yung pagsali mo doon kung masyado matagal ka sa discernment.
Ok din po sa akin kung ipadala na lang sa e-mail address ko yung sagot sa tanong kung pangalan nila.
To mariaveraldeborja@yahoo.com who asked who walked out.
Those who walked out are members of the Elders Assembly who were also listed as attendees to the Jun 07 meeting of the Easter/Playboy Bunnies at the residence of Nonong Contreras. The walk out was planned as early as Jun 07, two (2) full weeks before the election itself. You are right, talagang alam nila ang side nila.... and solid sila in their plan to stop and discredit the election.
A copy of the Easter/Playboy Bunnies Minutes is posted in the entry titled "OF MYSTERIOUS WAYS AND PLANS". Just click the copy to enlarge and see their names. They are now collectively known as the FFL Leaders/founders
dear p.e.,
i don't want to sound like an apologist for Ricky Coronel but i believe that abstaining was not an option when he was asked about it. as a matter of fact, he does not want to give an answer because he was still hoping that the bishops can get the two sides to unite. i also believe that the question was posed prematurely, prior to the aug 28 dialogue with the bishops. now will be the proper time to ask that question and i'm thinking (and hoping) that he will have a different answer.
it is sad for me to read in this blog that some of the members of the original US Council decided to join FFL.
i am for a united CFC but if the original US Council declared allegiance to the FFL, and SADLY, if we are now made to choose, i will choose the original CFC.
I believe that it was hard for us in the USA to accept that our elders in the Philippines did not listen to our bishops, and hence, the fence sitting. But after the meeting with the bishops on Aug 28, and them affirming CFC, and our IC leaders promising to fix the issues raised by Tito Frank, it will be hard for us to go to FFL.
Sadly, we are now starting to see the division in the U.S. We in Southern California have experienced a split here before when Tito Lito Urgino decided to split and founded FCJ (Families in Christ Jesus). We've also seen two factions of CFC when we started here 13 yrs ago. It was painful. That is why Southern California leaders are so vocal about having a united CFC.
I just hope and pray that our leaders here in Southern California will decide to remain with CFC & the IC.
dear cfc from southern california,
i join u in your prayer that cfc socal with ricky coronel do stay with cfc.
as we have read from this comment, nani almanza has declared that the 'acting' us national council is aligning with ffl.
btw, i say 'acting' kasi they are acting as if they are still cfc usa.
Just want to share the sharing from kerygma….
Did you know that the antidote for a snake bite is made from the venom of the same snake that did the biting?
I couldn’t help but think about this as I read today’s reading. The snakes seem to symbolize the words that the Lord Jesus speaks – they have the power to condemn the people for their sins. However, Jesus Himself is not out to condemn but to save. So, God allowed Himself to be lifted up on the Cross and looked upon as a reminder. Whenever we sin, we remember that His words or instructions can condemn us when we disobey, but when we look at Him and repent, He will readily heal. I am thankful that the mercy of God is such that He doesn’t make forgiveness difficult to attain. I am thankful for His very visible reminder of sacrifice and love. I am thankful for the Cross that heals. Victoria L.
Yes, we should not be out there to condemn but inside to help in healing… we should not make forgiveness difficult to attain… be thankful for the Cross that heals… I am happy I am at peace… I am with the original CFC, with Gawad Kalinga among its ministries, under the leadership of Bro Joe Tale which continues as a national (given by the CBCP in 1996) and international private association (given by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 2005,”) of the faithful…
